I am Chinese and American so I know a lot about this trouble my mom and dad used to have the same troubles when they had to do that. What I did was I went to my local post office and there should be someone that takes care of passports. If there isn’t then go to a government office or a place where you got or know you can get a American passport and ask them about it. I had to help my parents with their English when they needed to make their passport and I am only 12 and I had to help them when I was 11 so I am sure my answer is correct. Also if you live near Washington D.C. there is a office where you make passports for anywhere you are traveling to. Right now I am living in China visiting my family and relatives. So if you have any questions you can email me if you want my email is alanhuang1995@gmail.com. If you Thank You me I will say NP(No problem)
If you are in America you now have to apply in person, or go through an agent. The agent is easy. You can find them online. Or you can go to the Chinese Embassy website to find the consulate in your area, and check out their website for recommendations of agents. You download the application, fill it out, send it with your documents and your money to the agent and depending on how much you pay, you will get your documents back in two days to two weeks. It couldn’t be easier.
Sorry. I just reread your question. You want a passport, not a visa. First you have to get the passport from your goverment passport agency. Then you can get the visa as I described above. Getting the passport has become more complicated lately, and takes a lot longer because now anyone travelling anywhere outside of the US must have a passport. Still, you can do it at many post offices. If you need one very soon, you will have to go to one of a few places in the US that issue passports to people travelling within two weeks or applying for a visa for travel. You can find out where those are at usis.gov, I think is the website. You can google passports.
1. International passport application at the Immigration Office of the country you hold citizenship; or at your country’s embassy.
2. China visa application at the Chinese Embassy/Consulate located in the country where you reside. Call embassy to find out requirements; normally: (a) Valid International Passport (b) Fill out visa application form at Embassy (c) 2 passport-size photos (d) cash payment for China visa
Firstly, you will need a passport to go to China.
If you need a passport, you will have to apply in your country
with the immigration department or which ever department, that issues passports.
If you need visa’s, you will have to take your pasport and go to Chinese Embassy, in your country to obtain the visa.
You can go to your local courthouse to apply for your passport, this can take at least 5 weeks if not more, I think, so apply early! You’ll need to get passport photos taken and I think your birth certificate. Also, to get into China you need a visa, which you can get at the Chinese embassy in Washington, DC, or any consulates in Chicago, New York, or San Francisco (those cities definitely have them). You can also get a visa from travisa.com, which I have done.
